UMCORThis Sunday, we have a tremendous opportunity to make a global difference when we celebrate UMCOR Sunday.

Here is one example of ways UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is helping on the ground: Boko Haram, a militant Islamic group, continues to wreak havoc in Nigeria. Two million people have been forced to flee their homes to seek safety, shelter and food. In 2017, UMCOR worked in partnership with Mission 21, formerly known as the Basel Mission, to offer support to communities that have survived Boko Haram's attacks. Through a $100,000 grant, UMCOR and Mission 21 are working together to provide more than 600 men, women and children with lifesaving nutrition and essential nonfood assistance. Mission 21 empowers survivors through sustainable development so they can work within their own communities to support one another. The partnership gives them the tools to rebuild what has been destroyed. Currently, UMCOR is at work around the world, including Puerto Rico. Recently, our team was supported by the infrastructure on the ground as together we work to help the folks there. We support efforts like this when we give to UMCOR Sunday. We change the lives of people all over the world with our generosity.
