Make this holy season especially meaningful this year through alternative giving plans! Please consider some of the following ideas. What would it be like to give away the same amount you spend on family and friends?

Angel Gifts These are gifts of mission or gifts to bless the church. See the whole list in the welcome center. Purchase one in honor of someone and they will receive a card from the church letting them know of your gift; or you can choose to give them the card yourself.

Families In Need Gifts Take a card with you from the table in the welcome center, purchase the gift and return by December 16. Please return it in a gift bag and place the tag in the bag. What a great way to help others in need.

Christmas Miracle Offering (Matching Challenge!) You will receive a letter in the mail with a special offering envelope for our miracle offering. We will be paying the school lunch debt for several schools in our communities. **We are hoping to multiply loaves and fish so that children and youth can eat lunch each day at school. The school lunch policy in Harford County allows debt to follow a student from elementary school into middle and high school. Ultimately, these kids end up not eating lunch. While there is free and reduced lunch available, many families do not fill out the form due to embarrassment and fear of the government. We have a donor that has challenged the congregation to match up to $10,000 for this effort. All monies in these envelopes or checks marked school lunch debt will be given to this effort. PLEASE consider it.

Food Aware During the holiday season, Americans generally gain up to 10 pounds simply because there is more food, less daylight, and additional social events. As a way to be in solidarity with those who are hungry in the world, in our country, and in our community, what if we simply ate less rather than more. And each time we choose not to eat a second helping, or eat half a serving rather than a whole one, we offer a prayer for someone who is hungry. Beginning today, join me in a hunger awareness challenge of losing pounds through this season.
